UA Cable Television
UA’s cable system is all digital. When purchasing TVs make sure they have a QAM tuner. If you purchase a TV for use in your residence hall, we suggest keeping your receipt in case the TV is not compatible with our digital cable system. Here is a listing of some TV’s that DO NOT have a QAM tuner.
Also, with this digital system, older analog televisions (generally, a set that is more than five years old) cannot receive the signal without use of a digital-to-analog converter box with QAM capability. You may purchase a digital-to-analog converter box online. Here are some converter box suggestions.
Most TiVo units are not compatible with the UA cable system and are not recommended. However, UA offers Philo, a service that allows students the ability to record shows and watch them live on their computer, laptop, phone or tablet. Here is more information on Philo.
UA on-campus students also have access to HBO Go when they register for Philo.
